Specialist Classroom Teacher (SCT)

Are you an exceptional teacher? Are you inspired to teach, guide and support other teachers?

Due to retirement, the coveted position of Specialist Classroom Teacher is available. If you are well-versed in effective pedagogy, enjoy growing others in a supportive way, and would relish the opportunity to recreate our programme for new teachers, this may be the perfect role for you.

You will work with a supportive Deputy Principal, our current culturally responsive pedagogy lead and literacy team to support you to embed our school goals and our Effective Teacher Profile. You will make your mark by redeveloping and leading our PCT1 and 2 programme. Your role will also include supporting all new teachers to the school, contributing to school-wide professional development and teacher observations (within a growth-coaching style model).

The successful applicant will have a proven record of working as both a supportive and highly effective classroom teacher and team member, and show a clear commitment to best practice teaching, learner engagement and achievement. In return, you will be well supported and encouraged in your own professional growth, and enjoy a fantastic school culture of manaakitanga in an innovative community-centred environment.

This is an exciting time to join our college as we embed our Effective Teacher Profile, which encompasses evidenced-based pedagogy for student engagement, including the science of learning within culturally affirming relationship-based practice. We pride ourselves on our teaching philosophy to "know and grow" our learners within a "warm and demanding" culture. Our College also has a strong focus on raising literacy and enhancing mana ōrite mō te Mātauranga Māori.

Whangaparāoa College is located 35 minutes north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast. The College has outstanding facilities, a committed and talented staff, and a focus on personal excellence and learner achievement. As a member of our staff, you will embody our values and character - Āhuatanga Whangaparāoa - and work to ensure every young person achieves their personal excellence.
